The invasion of Ukraine is still underway, and there are no signs of it deescalating. If anything, it is only getting worse. On Tuesday, March 16th, the US Senate approved to seek a investigation of Putin for war crimes.
Investigation Of Putin For War Crimes
Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham brought the bipartisan measure that says the Senate condemns the “violence, war crimes. crimes against humanity” carried out by Russian military forces. It urges international criminal courts to investigate Putin and Russian leadership for possible war crimes.
“These atrocities deserve to be investigated for war crimes,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer expressed.
The measure was approved quickly and without debate as Congress continues to develop a bipartisan show of force against the war in Ukraine.
The Atrocities Commit By Russia
Recently, US Vice President Kamala Harris supported the calls for an investigation of Putin for war crimes in the invasion of Ukraine. She mentioned the “atrocities” of bombing civilians and targeting the hospital.
“Absolutely, there should be an investigation, and we should all be watching,” said VP Harris, mentioning that the UN has started a process to review allegations.
The International Criminal Court announced it launched an investigation targeting senior officials suspected to be responsible for war crimes and other violations in the invasion of Ukraine.
