Knowing what stage your claim is in will help you avoid missing deadlines; making a decision for your claim come in faster.

How To Check Your VA Claim Status

There are three easy ways to check your VA claim status:

  1. Visit your local VA regional office for Veterans who appreciate the in-person assistance.
  2. Dial the VA at (800) 827-1000 for Veterans who prefer a phone call.
  3. Log in to the VA’s claims status checker for the tech-savvy Veterans.

Visit VA Regional Office

To find a regional office near you, visit the VA website and click on the state where you reside. From there, you will see a list of VA regional offices. Click on the one nearest to you and get directions.

Call For A Status Update

This option is perfect if you have troubles with the VA website or have no online access. For assistance, call The VA’s toll-free phone number at (800) 827-1000

VA representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET.

Check Your VA Claim Status Online

If you don’t want to wait on someone from the VA, you can visit the VA website to check your VA claim status. From there, you will sign in with your ID.me, DS Logon, or My HealtheVet account to access the necessary information.

In addition, the online tool offers a “What Happens Next?” feature. This feature shows a visual timeline showing which stage your claim is currently located and gives an estimate on when it will reach the next phase of the application process.
