Are you looking for an exciting movie to watch during the holidays? What better way to cozy up on the couch with family or even by yourself with an exhilarating film. Here is a list of the best military movies of 2021.
Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse
Michael B. Jordan stars Tom Clancy’s take on spec-ops John Clark. This film explains his origins as Navy SEAL and illustrates the tragedy and mission that led him to become a ghost warrior.
The movie was scheduled for a theatrical release in 2020. But when it got bumped to 2021 due to COVID-19, Paramount sold the film to Amazon. It then made its debut as a streaming title on Prime Video.
Nobody
Bob Odenkirk plays Hutch Mansell, a special-ops veteran who kicks ass. However, he has a dark past.
Hutch fails to defend himself or his family when two thieves break into his suburban home one night. The aftermath of the incident soon strikes a match to his long-simmering rage.
The Card Counter
Director and screenwriter Paul Schrader, famously known for writing Taxi Driver and Rolling Thunder, cast Oscar Isaac to play William Tell, a former military interrogator who learned to count cards during 10-years in prison.
William carries guilt for his military crimes and blames his commanding officer, played by Willem Dafoe, for the horrid things he ordered to do. He meets up with a fellow interrogator’s son to plan for revenge.
Hell Hath No Fury
Director Jesse V. Johnson came up with a story during World War II, where Americans, Nazis, and Resistance fighters attempted to locate a stash of hidden gold.
A young Frenchwoman named Marie had an affair with the German officer who hid the gold. And she may know all the answers.
Escape from Mogadishu
The plot follows Korean diplomats trying to escape from Somalia during Mohamed Farrah Aidid’s 1991 assault on Mogadishu.
There is creative filmmaking on display in the film and plenty of suspense. The technique for car-armoring for a big chase scene makes the movie worth watching.
The Tragedy of Macbeth
Working for the first time without his brother, filmmaker Joel Coen recruited Frances McDormand and Denzel Washington for a compelling take on William Shakespeare’s tale.
The movie consists of precise dialogue from the play and focuses on the action. Although in black-and-white, the film is an excellent watch for its compelling hand-to-hand combat.
“The Tragedy of Macbeth” will open in theaters on Dec. 25, 2021.
